Obama Attacks Trump in 4th of July message

Barack Obama spent his Independence Day taking yet another passive-aggressive shot at President Donald Trump, warning Americans that “core democratic principles” are “under attack” — the third veiled jab in less than a week.

The former president posted a thinly veiled political message on social media Thursday, suggesting that no single person owns the country — a clear swipe at Trump during the patriotic holiday.

“Independence Day is a reminder that America is not the project of any one person. The single most powerful word in our democracy is the word ‘We.’ ‘We The People.’ ‘We Shall Overcome.’ ‘Yes We Can.’ America is owned by no one. It belongs to all citizens. And at this moment in history—when core democratic principles seem to be continuously under attack, when too many people around the world have become cynical and disengaged—now is precisely the time to ask ourselves tough questions about how we can build our democracies and make them work in meaningful and practical ways for ordinary people,” Obama said.

Attacks Trump’s “Beautiful Bill”

On Wednesday, Obama attacked President Trump’s “One Big, Beautiful Bill,” a key part of the GOP legislative agenda that passed Friday afternoon. Without addressing the real facts, Obama fear-mongered that over 16 million Americans could lose health coverage.

He blamed Republicans for daring to reform bloated federal programs like Medicaid and Obamacare, his own failed legacy legislation.

“Call your representative today and tell them to vote no on this bill,” Obama urged his followers — directly encouraging resistance against Trump’s America First reforms.

Playing Politics While Trump Leads

Obama’s Fourth of July message followed a string of coordinated media appearances this week, including a photo-op with George W. Bush and Bono, where the trio criticized the Trump administration’s decision to cut USAID.

Despite portraying himself as above politics, Obama continues to act as a shadow player, launching drive-by attacks while President Trump focuses on restoring the economy, strengthening the border, and putting America First.

Americans Fire Back at Obama

Obama’s attempt to reframe July 4 didn’t sit well with the public. Conservatives pushed back immediately.

“A ‘core democratic principle’ Barack Obama and his Administration consistently violated was the freedom of the press and free speech…” — Elizabeth MacDonald, FOX Business

“America was not founded as a ‘democracy’. It was founded as a ‘republic’, and the most powerful word was ‘liberty’, not ‘we.’” — Rich Baris, The People’s Pundit

“Obama thinks his ‘Yes We Can’ is on par with ‘We The People.’” — Margot Cleveland, The Federalist

“Independence Day is a celebration of the Americans who declared independence from Great Britain. Universalizing alleged lessons is a left-wing revolutionary project.” — C. Jay Engel

“The single most powerful word in our democracy is the word ‘Republic.’ ‘The Republic for which it stands.’ No, Obama can’t.” — Robert Reid, Attorney
