In yet another chapter in the never-ending Hunter Biden scandal, a new book has revealed that the President’s embattled son asked the Democratic National Committee (DNC) to pay his legal fees — all while inserting himself into White House decision-making during one of the most important constitutional moments in modern U.S. history.
The revelations come from 2024: How Trump Retook the White House and the Democrats Lost America by Josh Dawsey, Tyler Pager, and Isaac Arnsdorf.
Hunter Wanted the DNC to Pick Up His Legal Tab
According to the book, Hunter Biden’s paintings were his main source of income last June, and the Biden family was worried about how he’d afford high-powered D.C. lawyers like Abbe Lowell.
“At one point, the family asked senior White House aides to consider whether Biden could help his son raise money for legal bills,” the authors write.
The conversation escalated as concerns mounted that Lowell might drop Hunter if the bills weren’t paid.
When Hunter learned that the DNC was covering Joe Biden’s legal expenses related to the special counsel probe into Biden’s mishandling of classified documents, he reportedly asked why the DNC couldn’t just cover his bills, too.
The answer? Absolutely not. Even Biden’s lawyers admitted it was a disaster-in-waiting if they tried to involve the DNC in Hunter’s legal defense.
Commentary: The idea that Hunter even floated this shows the depth of entitlement that defines the Biden orbit. The DNC paying for Joe was already highly questionable, but Hunter? That would’ve lit the Democrat base on fire.
DNC Already in Freefall — Paying for Hunter Would’ve Been Suicide
Let’s not forget: the DNC was already under pressure.
-
Internal turmoil over money
-
Infighting with gun control activist David Hogg
-
Randi Weingarten, head of the American Federation of Teachers, jumping ship
If the DNC had dared to pick up Hunter’s tab, the backlash from the progressive left, the moderates, and the few remaining sane Democrats would have been swift and brutal.
Hunter Meddles in Supreme Court Response Call
The book also reveals a jaw-dropping moment of Hunter Biden crashing a high-level White House video call following the Supreme Court’s Trump presidential immunity decision.
Chief of Staff Jeff Zients convened the call, with Joe Biden dialing in from Camp David. The discussion was over whether the president would respond on camera or in writing.
Then out of nowhere, an unidentified voice chimed in and recommended an Oval Office address.
At first, staffers were confused — but it was Hunter Biden, speaking without authorization on an official White House strategy call.
When White House Counsel Ed Siskel expressed concern about making a political statement from the Oval Office, Hunter barked back:
“This is one of the most consequential decisions the Supreme Court has ever made,” he said, insisting his father should speak from the Oval.
