Elon Musk Launches ‘America Party’ After Trump Signs ‘Big Beautiful Bill’

Elon Musk, the billionaire entrepreneur and owner of X, shook up the political world Saturday by officially launching a new political force — the America Party — in a direct rebuke to the corrupt, bloated, and broken two-party system.

The move followed a viral July 4th poll Musk posted on X asking users if they wanted independence from the “two-party (some would say uniparty) system.”

Over 1.2 million people voted — and 65.4% said YES.

In response, Musk wrote:

“By a factor of 2 to 1, you want a new political party and you shall have it! When it comes to bankrupting our country with waste & graft, we live in a one-party system, not a democracy. Today, the America Party is formed to give you back your freedom.”

The announcement was posted less than 24 hours after President Trump signed his historic “Big, Beautiful Bill” — a $3.3 trillion package that included tax cuts, infrastructure, and stimulus spending.

Rising Friction With Trump?

While Musk didn’t mention the bill directly, the timing didn’t go unnoticed.

Musk has previously criticized both Republicans and Democrats for engaging in reckless spending, warning that unchecked fiscal insanity will destroy long-term economic stability.

His party launch could mark the first serious divergence between Trump and Musk since their public alignment on free speech, government reform, and AI safety.

America Party to Target Congressional Swing Votes

According to Musk, the America Party’s goal isn’t to win the presidency (yet) — it’s to build a swing bloc in Congress powerful enough to stop the worst ideas from both parties.

It’s a bold strategy — one that could immediately disrupt the D.C. cartel without having to navigate the rigged presidential system.

But not everyone on the right is celebrating.

Concerns from the Right: “You’ll Help Democrats Win”

Prominent conservatives warned Musk that his third-party effort could divide the conservative vote, helping Democrats win swing races by splitting the right.

“Your third party will disproportionately take votes from the right vs the left and give the left an easier path to power,” posted Shawn Farash, a conservative commentator.

Joey Mannarino echoed the concern, urging Musk to reform the GOP from within instead of building something from scratch.

Others pointed out that Musk’s poll was unscientific, open to non-American voters and bots, and shouldn’t be used as a justification for launching a political party.

A Brief History of Third-Party Failures

Despite the buzz, history is stacked against third-party efforts in the U.S.

  • Ross Perot (1992) earned 19% of the popular vote — but zero electoral votes

  • Teddy Roosevelt’s Bull Moose Party (1912) came closest to success, winning 27% and carrying several states

  • More recent candidates like Ralph Nader and Gary Johnson have flamed out despite media attention

The Electoral College, winner-take-all laws, and ballot access restrictions make it nearly impossible for third parties to gain real traction.

Who will be the main lead?
Elon?
Taking away many votes from today’s president may lead to a loss of certainty of the left never being in charge again. Promises are hard to fulfill. Corruption is a certain deal breaker.
Today’s administration is more inclined to pave the way into freeing than enslaving. There is nothing a new party can bring BUT LOSS OF FREEDOM. And more chance for the EVIL LEFT to regain power. And all of us lose everything.
