As President Donald Trump’s historic deportation effort intensifies, several California cities have canceled their Fourth of July celebrations — not because of weather, not because of funding, but because they want to shield illegal aliens from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
The city of Cudahy, located in Los Angeles County, abruptly canceled its July 3 celebration, citing vague “resident safety” concerns. They didn’t mention ICE by name, but the timing tells the story.
Bell Gardens, just east of Cudahy, was more direct:
“Out of an abundance of caution regarding concerns for resident safety over federal immigration enforcement activities, the City of Bell Gardens will be canceling… Independence Day Celebration,” the city said.
Since then, the city has used its official social media to promote illegal immigration “know your rights” workshops — including tips on how to refuse entry to ICE agents and remain silent.
Huntington Park and Boyle Heights also canceled or postponed their celebrations, with Boyle Heights officials directly blaming ICE.
“We’re responding to the crisis with the presence of federal agents in the community,” said Alejandra Alarcon, spokesperson for Councilmember Ysabel Jurado.
Democrat officials encouraging street gangs?
In a now-deleted video, Cudahy Vice Mayor Cynthia Gonzalez appeared to call on L.A. gang members to confront ICE:
“Where are the cholos? 18th Street, Florencia… your hood’s being invaded by the biggest gang there is, and there ain’t a peep out of you.”
She then demanded gang “leadership” step up, saying:
“Just f**king get your members in order.”
Even the L.A. police union called for her resignation.
Meanwhile, Lucia Aguilar, a deputy in Councilmember Jurado’s office, was arrested in June — along with her twin sister — for allegedly attacking a police officer with a deadly weapon during anti-ICE riots. Their father is Democrat Pasadena Councilman Rick Cole.
Critics: “they’re canceling America”
As illegal immigrants are protected, American citizens and legal immigrants are denied the right to celebrate the nation’s birthday.
“They’re basically canceling America,” said Gloria Romero, a former Democratic State Senate majority leader.
“We are basically led by a far-left, ultra-woke, Trump Derangement Syndrome–suffering fools.”
